Metro: Gateway Mwy to Bruce Hwy Upgrade Project

TMR advises they are undertaking geotechnical, pavement and Public Utility Plant (PUP) investigations adjacent and along the Gateway Motorway, between Bracken Ridge and the Pine River and surrounding ancillary roads from mid-March to August 2026.

When

  • Works are planned from mid-March to August 2026, weather and conditions permitting.

  • Most of the works will be during the day, from Monday to Friday between the hours of 6am and 6pm.

  • Some night works are required on the Gateway Motorway, Gympie Arterial Road, Deagon Deviation and Bracken Ridge Road when traffic volumes are lower, from Sunday to Thursday between the hours of 6pm and 5am.

Where

Work activities

  • Public Utility Plant (PUP) identification and locating works including vacuum excavation, as required.

  • Geotechnical investigations including boreholes and digging test pits for samples in several locations.

  • Testing existing pavement conditions.

  • Minor traffic changes including lane closures and traffic control, as required.

  • Temporary barricades erected around test areas, as required.

Expected impacts

Nearby residents may notice increased activity in the local area from the works including:

  • vehicles with flashing lights

  • use of geotechnical drill rigs, vacuum excavators and hand tools

  • increased noise, including reversing beepers from machinery.
