Metro: Gateway to Bruce Upgrade (G2BU) project, Site investigations, July 2026

When

• July till December 2026.

• This work continues to inform detailed design underway for the project.

• Main construction is expected to start from late 2026, subject to environmental approvals.

Work activities

• Utility identification and locating works including vacuum excavation, as required.

• Geotechnical and contamination investigation including boreholes and digging test pits for samples in several locations.

• Testing existing pavement conditions and structural assessments.

• Minor traffic changes including lane closures and traffic control, as required.
• Temporary barricades erected around test areas, as required.

Timing

• Works are continuing from July to December 2026, weather and conditions permitting.
• Most of the works will be during the day, from Monday to Friday between the hours of 6am and 6pm.
• Some night works are required on the Gateway Motorway, Gympie Arterial Road, Deagon Deviation and Bracken Ridge Road when traffic volumes are lower, from Sunday to Thursday between the hours of 6pm and 5am.
