Transport operators travelling on the Bruce Highway through Gunalda are advised of upcoming night works and intersection upgrade works commencing in October as part of the Bruce Highway Upgrade.
Hazell Bros Queensland is undertaking the works on behalf of the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR).
Night asphalt works
Asphalt paving and profiling works will commence from Sunday 11 October 2026 and are expected to continue for approximately four weeks, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Works will generally be undertaken 6pm to 6am, Sunday to Thursday
During these works, operators should expect changed traffic conditions, reduced speed limits, traffic control and potential delays through the work zone.
Queen Street intersection works
Upgrade works at the Queen Street intersection at Gunalda are scheduled to commence from Monday 12 October 2026 and continue for approximately four weeks.
Works will generally be undertaken 6am to 6pm, Monday to Friday
The works will include earthworks, pavement construction, drainage and kerbing works, with temporary traffic management in place.
Plan ahead
Heavy vehicle operators travelling through Gunalda should allow additional travel time and follow all temporary signage, reduced speed limits and directions from traffic controllers.
Construction vehicle movements will also increase within the work area while works are underway.
Schedules may change due to weather and construction conditions.
