NAAS Preview Opens for Queensland Low Loader Operators around QLD

NAAS (18 August, 2026)

Source: TMR

Queensland’s implementation of the National Automated Access System (NAAS) for low loaders is progressing, with industry invited to participate in a four-week Preview of the system ahead of implementation in November 2026.

The NAAS Preview will run from 24 August to 18 September 2026, providing heavy vehicle operators and other industry stakeholders with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Road User Portal and provide feedback before the system goes live.

The Preview is an important opportunity for industry to understand how the new access system will operate in practice, test the user experience and identify any issues or areas where further guidance may be required.

Accessing the NAAS Preview

From Monday 24 August, stakeholders will be able to access the NAAS Preview environment through the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) NAAS implementation webpage.

The webpage will also provide access to supporting resources, including:

  • a recording of the recent industry webinar;
  • a video demonstration of the NAAS Road User Portal, including its HELP functionality; and
  • a short survey for industry to provide feedback on the system and user experience.

Access the NAAS implementation page:

Feedback and enquiries can also be provided directly to the TMR NAAS team at QLSNAAS@tmr.qld.gov.au.

Regional Industry Support Sessions

Running alongside the Preview, TMR’s State Network Access Program (SNAP) Team will host a series of regional industry support sessions across Queensland.

Sessions will be held in:

  • Brisbane
  • Rockhampton
  • Mackay
  • Townsville
  • Toowoomba
  • Roma
  • Mt Isa

These sessions provide operators with an opportunity to engage directly with the implementation team, learn more about using NAAS and seek assistance ahead of the November transition.

Industry members and interested stakeholders are encouraged to register for their local session.

Preparing for November

The Preview period forms part of Queensland’s transition to NAAS for low loader access, with implementation scheduled for November 2026.

QTA strongly encourages low loader operators who will use the system to participate in the Preview, attend a regional support session where possible and provide feedback during the four-week window.

Taking the opportunity to become familiar with the system now will help operators prepare for the transition and ensure industry experience informs implementation ahead of go-live.
