NSW: hanged traffic conditions on Newcastle Inner City Bypass eastbound on ramp at Jesmond from Tuesday 28 April

The work will be carried out at night from 7.00pm to 5.00am on Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 April and between Sunday 3 and Tuesday 5 May, weather permitting.

During the work, the northbound on ramp from Newcastle Road eastbound lanes onto the Newcastle Inner City Bypass will be closed.

Heavy vehicles under notice will be detoured eastbound along Newcastle Road and turn north onto Lambton Road, continue north via Edith Street and Lorna Street, then west along University Drive to rejoin Newcastle Inner City Bypass, which may add up to 15 minutes to journeys.

Oversize and/or Overmass (OSOM) vehicle and load operators that are unable to take alternative routes during the road closure are advised to contact the project team at least one day ahead of movements on 1800 818 433 to avoid significant delays.

On arrival, OSOM operators must park on the shoulder of Newcastle Road between The Crescent and Drury Street and use UHF channel 29 and await assistance through the work site.

Vehicles travelling under permit must not travel off the approved route listed in the permit unless an updated permit is obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).
