Revised Roadwork Times-FNQ-Gulf and Kennedy Developmental Roads-Night Works Only 7/5-4/6/24

TMR have revised the timing of works to be undertaken on the Gulf Developmental and Kenndy Developmental Road due to industry feedback. The temporary road closures to carry out important surfacing and resealing works on five single lane bridges on the following roads will be carried out at night.

  • Gulf Developmental Road between Mt Surprise and Georgetown
  • Kennedy Developmental Road between the Lynd and Hughenden.

These important works will extend the life of the bridges and create a strong long-lasting wearing surface for the safety and comfort of road users.

The single lane bridges will be closed to all traffic between 7pm and 5am Monday to Saturday morning. Works will be carried out intermittently from Tuesday 7 May 2024 and be completed Tuesday 4 June 2024, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Speed reductions will be in place at the sites outside these hours.

As the bridges are single lane, the works cannot be carried out any other way. The night works will be carried out concurrently where possible to streamline the process and minimise disruptions to motorists.

Georgetown

Work in Georgetown on Sandy Creek Bridge and on the road between George and High Streets will be carried out during the day. This will require three days of single lane closures and speed reductions between 7.30am and 5pm between 14 to 16 May and 3 June 2024, weather and construction conditions permitting.
