Road Conditions FNQ: Kuranda Range Road - Night works closures extended until 20 December 2024
Source: Department of Transport and Main Roads
Reconstruction works on Kuranda Range Road are progressing with night closures in place from 9pm to 4am.
Closures dates will be extended until 4am on Friday 20 December 2024 to allow the completion of additional works prior to Christmas. For this period of works the road will continue to remain open on Friday and Saturday nights.
Change of let through times effective 1 December 2022.
Let through times will be midnight (12:00am) for both top and bottom of the range.
Road users must be in the queue by midnight as traffic will only be let through once in each direction for as long as it takes to clear the queued vehicles, then the road will close again until 4am.
The range will be open to a single lane under traffic control over the Christmas period.
TMR thanks road users for their continued feedback and patience during the reconstruction works.
What can I expect driving through work sites?
Changed traffic conditions including reduced speed limits, single lane closures and manual and long-term traffic control will be in place for the duration of the works.
Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place on the approaches to the work sites to ensure motorists are aware of the changed traffic conditions.
Changes in dates due to poor weather will be posted on the VMS.
TMR thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation as this significant program of works is delivered.
