SEQ: Bremer River Bridge Works and installation of Variable Speed Limit Signs, Warrego Hwy

Road Conditions (16 June, 2026)

Source: TMR, Heavy Vehicles Unit

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)  advises motorists of ongoing works to rehabilitate the Bremer River westbound bridge and install Variable Speed Limit Signs on the Warrego Highway, Karalee between River Road and Mt Crosby Road.

While works are underway temporary lane closures will be in place.

Westbound oversized loads exceeding 3.5m width travelling along this section of the Warrego Highway, as well as SPV's (travelling bridge centreline travel) intending to use the westbound Bremer River Bridge, must contact the site supervisor Steve Hauschild on 0499 409 946, 24 hours prior to arriving to site.

Eastbound oversized loads exceeding 3.5m width travelling along this section of the Warrego Highway must contact the site supervisor Allan Smith on 0408 920 699, 24 hours prior to arriving to site.

Timing

  • Works to install Variable Speed Limit Signs commenced in May 2026 and are expected to continue through to September 2026, weather and construction conditions permitting.
  • Typical construction hours will be from 8pm to 6am, Monday to Sunday.
  • Night works are required for road user safety and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network.
  • While most of the works will be undertaken during this time, some out of hours works may be required.

Impacts

  • Temporary traffic changes include, road shoulder and lane closures, roadworks speed limit reductions and short-term traffic disruptions. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
