SEQ: Installation of variable speed limit signs on the Warrego Hwy, Karalee

Road Conditions (12 May, 2026)

Source: Metropolitan District, TMR

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advises they will be installing Variable Speed Limit Signs (VSLS) on the Warrego Highway, between River Road and Mt Crosby Road, Karalee from mid-May to September 2026.

Once operational, the signs will allow posted speed limits up to 100km/h to be reinstated for the eastbound carriageway, while providing the ability to reduce the speed limit when required for night-time Oversize Overmass vehicle movements.

During night works

Single lane closures in both directions of the Warrego Highway will be implemented. Motorists can expect some delays during this time.

These works will run concurrently with the ongoing rehabilitation of the westbound bridge on the Bremer River.
