Toowoomba Regional Council would like to advise you that the planned construction works for Oakey Biddeston Road Stage 2 are scheduled to commence on Wednesday 30 April, 2025 (weather permitting).  The upcoming works for the Oakey Biddeston Road, will have a closure between the Warrego Highway (last driveway heading south) and intersection with Oakey Crosshill Road.

The Stage 2 works, funded by the Australian Government's Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity Program (HVSPP) and Toowoomba Regional Council, will involve:

  • upgrading the roadway from a six-metre, full-width sealed formation to an eight-metre, full width sealed formation from the Oakey Creek bridge to the intersection of Oakey Biddeston Road and Oakey Crosshill Road; and
  • reconfiguring the intersection of Oakey Biddeston Road and Oakey Crosshill Road to change the through route to Oakey Biddeston Road. This will result in a new T-intersection being formed with Oakey Crosshill Road which will improve safety for all road users

The works will be carried out by Council construction teams and are planned to be completed by October 2025 (weather permitting).

During construction the following traffic conditions are proposed to maintain connectivity:

  • Southbound traffic on Oakey Biddeston Road will be diverted via Warrego Highway to either Oakey Pittsworth Road or Brimblecombe Road to Toowoomba Cecil Plains Road.
  • Northbound traffic on Oakey Biddeston Road and Oakey Crosshill Road will be diverted via Toowoomba Cecil Plains Road and either Brimblecombe Road or Oakey Pittsworth Road to Warrego Highway.
  • Access for local traffic will be maintained.

See detour map.

Council requests that all road users follow the directions of Council crews and Traffic Controllers.

Council apologises for any inconvenience and thanks the community for their patience and co operation during these works.
