SWQ: Toowoomba Temporary closures and detours - Toowoomba Marathon

The Department of Transport and Main Roads advises that the Toowoomba Marathon will take place on Sunday 4 May 2025. Several intersections will be temporarily closed during the event.
Short-term road closures
The short-term closures will occur:
- Between 4.30am and 8.15am at the intersection of Ruthven Street and Long Street.
- Between 6.20am and 6.35am at the intersection of James Street and Kitchener Street.
- This intersection will be under police control and traffic release will be at their discretion if queues become too long.
The event will travel along a single loop of the southern side of the city which will be opened back up to traffic after 8.30am.
Half-day road closures
Half-day closures will occur between the hours of 4am and 1pm at the intersection of Margaret Street and Hume Street.
Detours will apply from 4am to 1pm and there will be no access for heavy vehicles during this timeframe.
Heavy vehicles up to 25m B-double travelling north or south of Toowoomba affected by closures will be diverted via West Street. Detour signage will be in place.
New England Highway at the intersection of Ruthven Street and Long Street - all traffic will be diverted via Alderley Street and James Street to West Street. Local access will be provided. Detour signage will be in place.
Toowoomba Connection Road at intersection of James Street and Kitchener Street - this intersection will be under police control and traffic release will be at their discretion if queues become too long. Detour signage will be in place.
