Tropical Cyclone Alfred - SEQ Impact to road networks

The following advice has been received from the Department of Transport and Main Roads - Heavy Vehicles Unit (07.03.2025)

The Department of Transport and Main Roads advises all heavy vehicle operators to exercise caution when travelling as Tropical Cyclone Alfred approaches and during the recovery period, due to the forecast of potential high wind speeds and flooding.

TMR recommends that heavy vehicle operators drive to the conditions, as road conditions in South East Queensland (SEQ) are expected to deteriorate today, with increasing rainfall and stronger winds.

Road freight operators needing to travel to central or Northern Queensland from Southern States should use the Inland Freight Route (Mungindi to Charters Towers), which remains open (See map below).

Safety remains our top priority, and we appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the well-being of all heavy vehicle operators. Please stay informed of weather updates and road conditions before commencing travel.
