NSW Road Conditions: Update to road train travel condition for level crossing on Wongajong Road, Red Bend, Forbes
Information from Transport for NSW
The travel condition on the NSW Road Train heavy vehicle map for the level crossing on Wongajong Road at Red Bend, Forbes will be updated today 8 December at 5pm.
The following travel condition will apply:
- vehicles exceeding 26 metres and up to 30 metres are approved to operate in both directions at Red Bend level crossing
- vehicles exceeding 30 metres must now have a protection officer on site to facilitate traversing the crossing in either direction of travel
- approval for a protection officer must be obtained from the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) by emailing odl.permits@artc.com.au
Failure to comply with this condition is a breach of permit and will lead to removal of access.
Transport for NSW, ARTC and Forbes Shire Council worked together to successfully negotiate access for heavy vehicles up to 30 metres with no expiry date. Vehicles of this size will have access under Notice for next year’s harvest, ensuring the continued safe, productive and sustainable movement of freight.
To manage the risks associated with vehicles exceeding 30 metres accessing the crossing, ARTC will consider access with a protection officer in place. Protection officer approval must be obtained from ARTC prior to travel, as outlined in the condition.
We wish you a safe and happy December/January holiday period.
