Wide Bay/Burnett Region: Asphalt Resurfacing Works
Source: Department of Transport and Main Roads (29.04.2025)
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will soon begin works to renew the asphalt layer, improving travelling conditions and longevity on various sections of roads in the Fraser Coast Regional Council area including:
- Maryborough–Biggenden Road: Cheapside Street - Neptune Street, Baddow Roundabout
- Bauple–Woolooga Road: Mary River Bridge (southern approach)
- Maryborough–Hervey Bay Road: Alice Street - Walker Street
- Maryborough–Cooloola Road: between Ferry Street and Fort Street, and between John Lane and Adelaide Street.
These works are expected to start this week and take approximately six weeks to complete, weather and other conditions permitting.
Due to the lower traffic volumes, resurfacing works will be undertaken at night to minimise disruption to motorists.
Night works will generally be undertaken between 8pm and 5am from Sunday to Thursday.
A temporary, two-night road closure is scheduled for works on Bauple–Woolooga Road, between Blowers Road and Paterson Road, on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 April 2025 between the hours of 8pm and 5am only, weather permitting. During this time, motorists will be directed to use the Wide Bay Highway and Bruce Highway as a detour.
Motorists are urged to drive to the changed conditions, obey all signage and traffic controllers’ directions and allow additional time for their journey.
On-road signage will be in place prior to commencing works to notify local community members of the timeframes for the works and associated traffic disruptions. Up to date information on roadworks and closures will be available on QLDTraffic can be accessed via www.qldtraffic.qld.gov.au or by downloading the QLDTraffic app (available from your app store).
The attached flyer is being distributed to the community.
TMR thanks the local community for its cooperation and patience during these important maintenance works.
